A basic single ISDN2e line has two 64k channels. In normal operation you use these separately, so you can make or take two calls at once. You can use ISDN for voice calls and for high-quality data links with other ISDN subscribers. Digital connections are often used for transferring large files securely and also video-conferencing and linking Local Area Networks at different sites. You can increase the number of channels in multiples of 2 up to a maximum of 60 (although if you are going above 8 channels we would recommend using ISDN30e lines instead).
