This service allows calling parties to send up to 20 alphanumeric characters with the digits of the number they are dialling. Different combinations of characters can then be allocated to each device connected to a called ISDN 2e or ISDN30e line.
This allows calling parties to select the destination or end point beyond that indicated by the national telephone number. For example, a device connected to a Local Area Network (LAN), individual devices connected to an ISDN 2e line or an application on a host computer. In the following example the line has one number and if a Sub address of "MUM" is sent then the phone will ring. If the Sub Address of PASSWORDMUM64" is sent then access will be gained to the PC.
NOTE: Terminal equipment is required to have the capability to send and, or receive Sub Addresses to use this service.
